Our History

Powertron has been a presence in Orange County since 1962. The company was founded by Bill Leonhardt. The company is currently represented by three generations of the Leonhardt family, with Bill at the helm as President of Powertron Battery Company. To this day, you can stop in at the shop and chat with Bill about his products and services.

How did Bill get into the battery business? Well, his journey actually began in 1950 in Puyallup, Washington. At the time, he was designing and building homes while starting a battery manufacturing business with his father on the side. Eventually, Bill realized that he was better off making battery manufacturing his main business, so he sold the company in Washington and headed for the sunny skies of Orange County.

In many ways, the move to Orange County was a leap of faith, but faith is something that Bill and his family have plenty of. The risk he took has paid off, and over the years, his company has grown exponentially. Not only do we sell batteries and accessories, but we also manufacture batteries and uninterruptible power supplies for sale across the country. But no matter how large our business grows, Orange County will forever be home.
